‘Bagh-e-noor’ — an Afternoon in the Gardens of the City of Pearls

Mumbai, 21th March, 2024:

In the resplendent tapestry of cultures and histories, the Nizami princesses of Hyderabad stand as ethereal emblems of timeless elegance and grace. Their essence, steeped in regal allure and poetic refinement, serves as the muse for Anushree Reddy’s latest fashion odyssey — ‘Bagh-e-Noor’ — that took centre stage at the FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week, on March 16th, 2024 at 3 pm in Mumbai. Playing showstopper for the visual treat of a showcase, was none other than Bollywood’s heartthrob, Malaika Arora, who, with her looks and poise, shares the ethereal grace and beauty of the Nizami princesses.

Drawing inspiration from the opulence of the Nizami heritage and the stunning natural beauty of the flora, fauna, and landscapes of its homeland, with this collection, Anushree embarks on a journey to evoke the enchantment of royalty through each meticulously crafted ensemble. With her ‘Bagh-e-Noor’ collection, the designer pays homage to the timeless elegance and enchanting allure of the erstwhile Nizami princesses of Hyderabad.

Through a symphony of colours, textures, and silhouettes, Anushree’s ‘Bagh-e-Noor’ collection captures the essence of their regal legacy, inviting modern-day royalty to embrace the magic of Nizami opulence. As the sun sets over the horizon, the collection stands as a testament to the enduring allure of courtly splendour, inviting all who behold it to dream of a world where elegance knows no bounds.

Every minute detail whispers tales of a bygone era — from the ornate motifs inspired by Nizami gardens and architecture to the delicate beadwork, reminiscent of royal jewels. In a nod to the traditional handicrafts of that era, crafted embellishments, such as zardozi, resham thread work and gota-patti, add a touch of artisanal splendour, infusing each garment with a sense of heirloom charm.

Beautiful flora and fauna meticulously crafted with the age-old technique of resham-ka-kaam along with needle artwork, embellished with glass cut, tea-stained beads and zari, on luxurious silks and dreamy organzas, intertwine to create a sensory symphony of sumptuousness, enveloping the wearer in a bubble of indulgence.

The colour palette parallels the hues of the Nizam’s court and beautifully underscores the Western roots of the princesses, along with their love for Indian traditions, blending rich jewel-toned accents such as lustrous gold, azure blues, and verdant greens along with delicate pastels like rose and yellow chiffon, all reminiscent of the treasures adorning the princesses themselves.

The silhouettes in the collection speak of a harmonious marriage between tradition and modernity, echoing the timeless elegance of Nizami attire, while infusing contemporary flair. From extravagant lehenga sets to flowing organza saris, each silhouette embodies the essence of royal refinement and sets trends for the upcoming summer wedding and festive season.

With Anushree Reddy’s ‘Bagh-e-Noor’ collection, we invite you to immerse yourself in a regal reverie; let each ensemble transport you to a land of elegance and sophistication, sun-kissed plains, and tranquil imagery of comfort and luxury, where every thread tells a story of beauty, grace, and harmony.
