Yuven Sundaramoorthy Set to Compete in 2nd Race of the 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone Series on Sunday, April 28

25, April 2024: YuvenSundaramoorthy, the young racing prodigy of Indian heritage,is set to prove his mettle as he readies himself to compete in the 2nd race of the 2024 Firestone INDY NXT Series. This is 37th edition of the championship and serves as the primary support series for the INDYCAR Series, now in its second year under the INDY NXT banner following its acquisition by Penske Entertainment in 2022.

After making notable guest appearances towards the end of the 2023 INDY NXT by Firestone season, Yuven Sundaramoorthy is set to return full-time with Abel Motorsports. The 1st of the 14-races concluded last month in the Streets of St. Petersburg, Florida with Yuven taking up 12th position. The 2nd race of the season kicks of with the 1st Practice session on 26th April, Friday this week at the Grand Prix of Alabama. The weekend schedule includes practice sessions on Friday and Saturday, followed by qualifying on Saturday afternoon, leading up to the main event on Sunday.

The race weekend schedule is as follows:

Friday, April 26

· 2:00 PM – 3:15 PM ET: INDY NXT – Practice 1

Saturday, April 27

· 11:05 AM – 11:50 AM ET: INDY NXT – Practice 2

· 2:35 PM – 3:05 PM ET: INDY NXT – Qualifications

Sunday, April 28

· 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM ET: INDY NXT – Race

Speaking on his season’s second race, YuvenSundaramoorthy expressed, “Yuven Sundaramoorthy expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m thrilled to be back on track for the second race of the season. The Streets of St. Petersburg was a tough start, but I’ve learned a lot from it and I’m ready to put that knowledge into action at the Grand Prix of Alabama. The track layout here is quite challenging but I’m confident in my abilities and the support from Abel Motorsports. I’m aiming to improve on my performance from the first race and hopefully secure a better position this time around. It’s going to be an exciting weekend for both drivers and fans, and I can’t wait to get out there and compete.”

The race on Sunday will consist of 35 laps covering a distance of 80.5 miles. The 1.8-mile,17 flowing turns and 80 feet of elevation change. With its lengthy straights and tight turns, the difficult track layout provides exhilarating action for both drivers and spectators.

YuvenSundaramoorthy’s journey to INDY NXT has been marked by hard work and determination. As a full-time driver in USFPRO 2000 in 2023, he also completed his bachelor of science degree in computer science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Sundaramoorthy’s impressive racing resume includes stints in US Pro 2000, USF2000, F1600, and karting. He made history by becoming the first Indian American driver to win an INDYCAR-sanctioned event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2021 and 2022 in the USF2000 Championship.
