Mumbai, 25th June 2025: Radio City stole the spotlight at the inaugural Maharashtra Radio Festival held on 21st June – ‘World Music Day 2025’ at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium, Nariman Point. Marking the first such initiative by the Government of Maharashtra, the event was graced by Padma Vibhushan Asha Bhosale, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Minister for Information Technology of Maharashtra Ashish Shelar, who spent over two hours celebrating the power of radio. The station received the prestigious “Maharashtra Asha Best Radio Station” award, presented by CM Fadnavis, who also created an unforgettable moment by singing “Abhi Na Jao Chod Kar” alongside Asha Tai — with the entire radio fraternity joining in. RJ Shonali added to the celebrations by winning ‘Best Marathi Radio Presenter’ at the “Asha Radio Gaurav Awards.”

The festival saw RJ Archana share a panel with CM Fadnavis, where she asked a light-hearted question that sparked enjoyment, while Janavi Iyer featured on a panel with programming heads from across the industry. The event beautifully reflected radio’s timeless charm, with cultural performances themed around Vitthal, a live orchestra recreating All India Radio soundscapes, and a nostalgic decor display of radio sets through the ages. Ministers fondly recalled their deep, personal connection with the medium and highlighted how radio remains a trusted source, even for the Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’. CM Fadnavis also noted how radio continues to accompany him during commutes, reinforcing its enduring relevance. Other celebrated RJs from the station like Salil, Abhishek, Karan, and Harshit, were also in attendance, making it a power-packed presence for the channel.

Ashit Kukian, CEO, Radio City, said, “We are truly honoured to be commemorated at the first-ever Maharashtra Radio Festival. Being named Best Radio Station reflects the deep-rooted connection we share with our listeners and the constant devotion of our RJs. From music to conversations that matter, our teams work tirelessly to keep the spirit of radio alive. This recognition encourages us to continue pushing creative boundaries and celebrating the power of this timeless medium.”

Anurita Patel, National Programming Head, Radio City, added, “This recognition is a celebration of the emotional bond we’ve built with our listeners over the years. Radio continues to be one of the most intimate and trusted mediums, and this award reinforces our belief in its enduring impact. It’s a proud moment for the entire team, and we’re grateful to be part of an industry that continues to inspire, inform, and entertain.”
