Ooms India & CSIR-CRRI Unveil REJUBIT for Sustainable Roads

New Delhi, February 10th 2025 – In a groundbreaking step toward sustainable road infrastructure, Ooms India, in collaboration with CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), has launched REJUBIT, an advanced rejuvenating agent designed to revolutionize pavement recycling. The launch event, held at the CRRI Auditorium, was graced by Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, who officially introduced REJUBIT and its cutting-edge technology to industry stakeholders.

REJUBIT facilitates the reuse of aged pavement materials by restoring the physical and mechanical properties of the aged binder. This innovation enables the recycling of old roads, significantly reducing the demand for new raw materials while effectively addressing the critical challenge of rising road levels in urban areas. With REJUBIT, road rehabilitation projects can achieve lower carbon footprints, reduced reliance on virgin bitumen, and enhanced pavement durability.

Speaking at the launch, Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji emphasized the importance of eco-friendly and cost-effective road solutions to support India’s expanding infrastructure. He commended Ooms India and CSIR-CRRI for their commitment to sustainable infrastructure development and highlighted REJUBIT as a game-changing innovation that aligns with India’s vision for greener, more efficient road networks.

REJUBIT: Transforming Road Rejuvenation and Recycling

India’s urban roads face the pressing challenge of rising pavement levels, where repeated overlays result in roads becoming higher than adjacent buildings, leading to drainage issues. Additionally, the depletion of natural resources such as aggregates and the urgent need to cut carbon emissions make sustainable road rejuvenation essential.

REJUBIT effectively enables the milling of old asphalt layers, restores the aged binder’s properties, and reuses the mix for repaving. This circular approach reduces the need for fresh materials, minimizes environmental impact, and prevents excessive elevation of road levels, thereby addressing key urban infrastructure concerns.

“With REJUBIT, Ooms India and CSIR-CRRI are pioneering a transformative approach to road maintenance in India. This innovation will extend the lifespan of road infrastructure, conserve natural resources, and contribute to India’s sustainability goals,” said an Ooms India spokesperson.

As India strives for resilient and eco-conscious road networks, REJUBIT stands as a testament to the power of research-driven innovation and sustainable engineering practices.
