Bhubaneswar,Apr28 (BNP): Odisha continued to reel under an intense heatwave as maximum day temperatures soared across several districts, with Jharsuguda emerging as the hottest place in the state at a scorching 44.7°C. At least 14 cities recorded temperatures above 41°C, highlighting the severity of the prevailing weather conditions.
The prolonged spell of extreme heat has disrupted normal life in many parts of the state, with residents facing intense daytime temperatures and hot, dry winds. Several districts in western and interior Odisha remained among the worst affected regions.
Even the capital city Bhubaneswar witnessed sweltering conditions as temperatures remained significantly above normal levels. Authorities have urged people to remain indoors during peak afternoon hours and take adequate precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Though sporadic Kalbaisakhi thunderstorms brought brief relief in some pockets, meteorologists said the respite was temporary and the overall heatwave situation continues across most districts.
Health officials have advised citizens to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and take special care of children, senior citizens, and outdoor workers.
With forecasts indicating continued high temperatures in the coming days, Odisha remains firmly in the grip of one of the season’s harshest heat spells.
