What began as a unique cancer care delivery model and stands today as the largest chain of community cancer care centres in India; M | O | C Cancer Care & Research Centre, inaugurated their new cancer centre at Swargate on 20th October 2024. This is M | O | C’s 3rd cancer care centre in Pune, after those two at Shivaji Nagar and Pimpri Chinchwad built in a serious attempt to make evidence-based & affordable cancer care available in the vicinity of patients in Pune. Dr Ashwin Rajbhoj and Dr Tushar Patil, two of Pune’s leading & experienced cancer physicians (oncologists) will guide and drive treatment services at M | O | C Swargate.
Cancer cases in India are rapidly rising due to various genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors. The cost of sustaining the recurring treatment is catastrophic to an extent that it drains patients and their families financially and pushes many of them below poverty line. M | O | C serves as a good option between expensive, high on pocket tertiary care centres and, government led or government backed, overburdened cancer hospitals that it’s unique decentralized, state-of-the-art community daycare model offers proximity, convenience and cost advantage to patients while ensuring high quality cancer care and safe environment for patients.
“With every new cancer treatment centre that we are adding, we are responding to the obvious hindrances and catastrophes prevailing for cancer patients in India by offering most advanced cancer treatment to patients, near their homes and at an affordable cost”; said Dr. Ashwin Rajbhoj, while speaking to our correspondents.
Dr. Tushar Patil mentioned that M | O | C Swargate will not only offer treatment services like chemotherapy, advanced medicines like targeted therapy and immunotherapy but it will offer services like molecular and precision oncology, cellular therapy to make cancer treatment truly personalized to suit differential and specific treatment needs for the best outcomes. While mentioning about M | O | C’s current network of community cancer centres in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, their founders expressed plans to expand their operations in northern India as a part of their commitment to touch & treat more cancer patients for better outcomes.
