Delhi: KIIT World School, Pitampura recently held a comprehensive Menstrual Health and Hygiene Workshop for students of classes VI and VII, designed to enhance their understanding of menstrual health. The workshop focused on educating young girls about proper practices before, during, and after menstruation, addressing common myths, and promoting healthy habits.
During the session, resource persons conducted detailed demonstrations on the correct use and disposal of sanitary products, including both disposable and reusable pads. Students learned essential hygiene practices such as changing pads every four hours, washing hands before and after handling sanitary products, and maintaining overall cleanliness to prevent infections.
In addition to practical tips, the workshop emphasized the importance of a balanced diet, particularly iron-rich foods, to support menstrual health and prevent deficiencies. The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged students to engage in discussions, ask questions, and clarify misconceptions, fostering an open and supportive environment.
Sangeeta Bhatia, Principal of KIIT World School, Pitampura, said, “The workshop was a vital step in creating a safe space for our students to learn about menstrual health and dispel any myths or misconceptions they may have. Our aim was to provide them with accurate information and practical guidance so they feel confident and prepared to manage their menstrual health. It’s important that young girls understand these aspects early on to promote their overall well-being and self-confidence.”
