Chennai, Oct 28: Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and Hockey Karnataka played out a thrilling 2-2 draw on Day 6 of the 97th All-India MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup Hockey Tournament in Chennai on Tuesday, with IOCL snatching the equaliser right at the end.
IOCL scored the first goal in the 9th minute when Talvinder Singh converted a penalty corner. Hockey Karnataka drew level in the 28th minute through a field goal by Abharan Sudev B, and Rahul C J put them ahead with another field goal in the 32nd minute.
Hockey Karnataka protected their 2-1 lead through the third quarter and into the closing stages, but IOCL won a late penalty corner, where Roshan Minz beautifully deflated the shot from Ragunath VR into the goal post at the death to salvage a 2-2 draw.
In the second match of the day, the Malaysia Hockey Confederation Juniors registered a 2-1 win over SAI-NCOE, Bhopal.
Mohd Muhammad converted a penalty corner in the 14th minute to give the Malaysians the lead, and Gunaseelan Dheeressh doubled it with another penalty corner in the 21st minute. SAI-NCOE pulled one back through a field goal by Mohammed Zaid Khan in the 42nd minute, but the Malaysian Juniors defended resolutely in the closing stages to hold on for the win.

Pool A: Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) 2 (Talvinder Singh 9th minute, PC; Roshan Minz 60+ minute, PC) drew Hockey Karnataka 2 (Abharan Sudev B 28th minute, FG; Rahul C J 32nd minute, FG).
Pool B: Malaysia Hockey Confederation Juniors 2 (Mohd Muhammad 14th minute, PC; Gunaseelan Dheeressh 21st minute, PC) beat SAI-NCOE, Bhopal 1 (Mohammed Zaid Khan 42nd minute, FG).
