ACCA Hosts Skill Fiesta 2024, Equipping Hundreds of Finance Professionals with Career-Ready Skills
New Delhi, October 17, 2024: ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) recently hosted Skill Fiesta 2024 in Bengaluru, where over 400 ACCA students and affiliates participated in a series of interactive workshops designed to enhance their employability and prepare them for success in the corporate world. The event, focused on equipping future ACCA members with essential skills and practical insights as they embark on their professional journeys.
Skill Fiesta 2024 offered a comprehensive program addressing four critical areas: resumé writing, interview skills, work readiness, and personal branding. Participants learned how to tailor resumes to specific job roles, align their skills with employer expectations, and leverage AI tools for resumé enhancement. Workshops on interview skills covered responding authentically to common questions, navigating virtual interviews, and salary negotiations. A panel discussion on work readiness focused on the transition from academic study to the workplace, emphasising the importance of both technical expertise and soft skills like professionalism and adaptability. Additionally, the personal branding session taught participants how to build a consistent online presence and build a professional profile in their industry.
The event also included fun, interactive activities such as ACCA-themed crossword puzzles and word hunt challenges, making the learning experience engaging. Winners received professional headshots, providing them with a valuable asset as they enter the job market.
Skill Fiesta 2024 also hosted a distinguished panel of industry experts who provided invaluable guidance to ACCA’s future professionals. The panel included Nikhil Patodi, Regional Controller at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG); Asha Merugu, Executive Director of Financial Accounting Advisory Services at EY GDS; Vasundhara Chakravarthy, Head of HR Shared Services and Talent Acquisition at Pierian Services; and Ashish Shetty, Senior Director of Finance at Nudge Lifeskills Foundation. Notably, in a spirit of belonging and giving back to the community, senior ACCA members also participated as panelists across various sessions. These experts played a crucial role in bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world application, sharing key insights into employer expectations, strategies to stand out in a competitive job market, and the significance of long-term career planning.
