New Delhi, Nov 17: Reckitt, a global leader in health and hygiene, in partnership with Jagran Pahal and PVR Nest, celebrated Children’s Day in Delhi with a vibrant, art-and-music–driven community event under its flagship initiative, Dettol Banega Swasth India (DBSI). The celebration, held at PVR Plaza Cinema, Connaught Place, brought together students, educators, and partners for an immersive experience that combined creativity, culture, and hygiene awareness.

The highlight of the event was a captivating performance by acclaimed Rajasthani folk artist Ustad Rais Khan, a long-standing DBSI collaborator who launched India’s first hygiene-themed music album, Folk Music for a Swasth India, in 2022. Also gracing the occasion were Dr. Neelkanth Kumar, Assistant Professor (Hindi), CIET, NCERT, and Dr. Priyanka Yadav, Assistant Professor, Hindu College, University of Delhi.

Through a rich blend of folk music, traditional puppetry, gamified learning, and hygiene education, the event inspired more than 200 school students and key community stakeholders. Khan’s soulful performance demonstrated how culturally rooted behavioural change communication can effectively nurture public health awareness. Meanwhile, the lively Nagauri Gharana puppet show creatively highlighted the importance of hand hygiene among children.

Ravi Bhatnagar, Communications and Corporate Affairs Director, South Asia, MENARP & Africa, Reckitt, said:

“Children are the future leaders of a healthier, stronger, and progressive India. When we instill healthy habits early, we build the foundation of Viksit Bharat 2047. Over the last 11 years, Dettol Banega Swasth India has empowered children with knowledge and pride to drive healthier change in their families, schools, and communities. On this Children’s Day, the blend of music, art, and hygiene reminds us that learning endures when it touches the heart. Every clean hand and every informed child brings us a step closer to a Swasth, Samriddh, and Viksit Bharat.”

Deepa Menon, Sr. Vice President, Corporate Communications & CSR, PVR INOX Ltd and Founder, PVR NEST, added:

“We are honoured to support this impactful initiative through our sustained partnership with Reckitt. At PVR INOX, we consider our cinemas to be platforms for awareness and meaningful social change. This collaboration reinforces our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, especially Good Health and Well-being. Through combined efforts across sanitation, road safety, gender equality, and education, we aim to use the power of the big screen to inspire responsible action and build a healthier, safer, and more equitable society.”

Speaking about the role of art in education, Ustad Rais Khan said:

“Music connects deeply with both children and adults. When socially conscious messages like hygiene awareness are woven into songs, they can inspire lifelong healthy habits such as regular handwashing with soap. When learning is infused with art and joy, it stays forever. This harmony between creativity and awareness is a step toward a healthier, happier, and progressive India.”

Sahil Talwar, Director – Impact Initiatives and Partnerships, Jagran Pehel, remarked:

“We are proud to collaborate with Reckitt’s DBSI and PVR Nest for this meaningful Children’s Day celebration. The partnership reflects our vision of driving community-led progress in hygiene and health. Watching children actively champion the #IAmTheChange movement is truly inspiring—a significant step toward a cleaner, healthier India.”

Continuing the Movement: #IAmTheChange

The #IAmTheChange campaign urges individuals and communities to take the Hygiene Pledge, committing to personal and environmental hygiene as part of India’s broader mission for health, cleanliness, and sustainability. With support from national leaders, influencers, and organisations, DBSI continues to advance hygiene awareness across the country.

Now in its 12th year, Dettol Banega Swasth India remains one of India’s most trusted public health movements, empowering children and educators with essential hygiene knowledge. By integrating traditional art and music, its latest season reinforces personal hygiene as a vital part of India’s cultural fabric.
