02nd Nov, 2026: With the festive season bringing increased movement of passengers across highways, intercity mobility platform zingbus is taking its ‘No Need for Speed’ campaign to a wider audience through a digital and social media awareness initiative. Anchored by #SafeAt80, the campaign aims to build a nationwide culture of speed discipline and responsible road travel. While the festive season offers an important opportunity to reinforce the message, the campaign is designed as an ongoing, year-round safety awareness initiative.
The planned rollout includes posts on zingbus’s social channels, LinkedIn creator collaborations, and media outreach to take the conversation beyond its fleet and encourage safer road behaviour among travellers and the wider public. Through digital storytelling and collaborations with travel creators, automotive influencers and other relevant voices, the initiative will highlight the risks of overspeeding and the importance of prioritising safety over speed.
The need for greater awareness is underscored by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' (MoRTH) Road Accidents in India 2024 report, which attributes 70.28% of road accident deaths to overspeeding. Against this backdrop, zingbus is reinforcing its 80 km/h speed lock across its services as a core part of its passenger safety approach. The message behind the campaign is simple: reaching a destination safely matters more than reaching it faster.
For industry stakeholders, the campaign also highlights how technology and operational practices can support safer intercity mobility. zingbus' safety ecosystem brings together:
● AI-Powered Driver Monitoring: Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) identify potential signs of fatigue or distraction through facial cues and trigger real-time alerts, helping drivers take corrective action.
● Smarter Journey Planning: Better route and journey planning helps maintain schedules without putting pressure on drivers to overspeed to recover lost time, while protecting planned driver rest breaks.
● On-Ground Assistance and Vehicle Safety: Trained onboard marshals, live GPS tracking, CCTV, fire detection and suppression systems, fire-retardant interiors and emergency exits provide additional layers of passenger safety.
Prashant Kumar, Co-founder and CEO of zingbus, said: “We chose ‘No Need for Speed’ because we want passengers to understand what speed discipline means for their journey. The 80 km/h cap is a clear operating commitment that we want travellers to recognise when choosing a service. We are still able to match journey durations through better planning, while retaining planned rest breaks. The campaign brings that approach into our communication, helping passengers make more informed travel choices and feel confident about the journey they are booking.”
While festive travel provides the launch context, ‘No Need for Speed’ is designed as a year-round awareness initiative, keeping speed discipline and responsible travel in the public conversation.
