Udaipur, 17th August 2026: Urban Square Mall marked the spirit of Independence Day with a remarkable display of patriotism and community participation, bringing together more than 10,000 people from across Udaipur to create a spectacular 300-foot-wide Tricolour through their hand impressions. Conceptualised and sketched by Urban Sketchers, led by renowned architect Sunil Ladha, the initiative transformed thousands of individual handprints into one collective expression of national pride.
Measuring 300 feet in width and 15 feet in height, the Tricolour comprised three 100-foot panels representing saffron, white and green. Every section of the artwork was filled through the actual hand impressions of citizens, making it a unique participatory creation by the people of Udaipur. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Udaipur Pink Women Army led by Dr. Archana Shaktawat, BCI Tourism Group led by Shradhha Gattani and Mukesh Madhwani, Urban Sketchers, schools including St. Matthew School, Prayas, Miranda and Royal Academy, Riverfront Nav Rattan community and RWAs such as Grace Crystal. Customers and teams along with social communities such as Let Us Hopp, also came forward to become a part of the celebration.
Adding a historical dimension to the artwork, the mural incorporated visual references to iconic figures including Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, among other freedom fighters whose courage and sacrifice helped shape the nation's journey. The artwork brought together Udaipur's proud Mewar legacy and India's larger freedom movement, creating a powerful visual representation of courage, unity and national pride.
