Pune(S.N): On the occasion of Diwali and the beginning of Samvat 2083, Uday Kotak,Founder and Non-Executive Director, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Shripal Shah, MD & CEO, Kotak Neo, shared their perspectives on the Indian economy, market developments and investment opportunities for the year ahead.
Uday Kotak,Founder and Non-Executive Director, Kotak Mahindra Bank highlighted the resilience of Indian investors despite geopolitical uncertainties, global market volatility and significant foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows. He noted that following the recent market correction, India's relative valuations have become more reasonable, while its higher growth potential continues to offer an advantage. He also highlighted Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a transformative force in the global economy, while cautioning that heavy borrowing and investments have created pockets of overvaluation. A potential correction in global AI-related investments could create opportunities for capital flows to return to India. He identified crude oil prices and interest rates as key risks, advising investors to focus on quality companies, medium-term strategies and effective risk management rather than short-term market movements.
Sharing his outlook, Shripal Shah, MD & CEO, Kotak Neo said that equity valuations have become more reasonable and the earnings growth outlook remains encouraging, while India's long-term growth opportunity continues to be compelling. He advised investors to remain invested, adopt a staggered investment approach and avoid trying to time the market. He also emphasised building diversified portfolios across large, mid and small-cap companies, different asset classes, direct equities and mutual funds. With the evolving interest-rate environment, debt investments could also offer opportunities and contribute to a balanced portfolio.
Shah also highlighted the rebranding of Kotak Securities as Kotak Neo,reflecting the organisation's commitment to making investing simpler, more intuitive and accessible for a new generation of investors. Both leaders emphasised discipline, diversification, quality investments and a long-term perspective as key principles for navigating market opportunities in Samvat 2083.
