Bengaluru, Oct 14: Lemonn, the stockbroking platform, today announced the launch of commodity futures and options trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India, expanding its exchange-traded derivatives offering beyond equities.
The launch comes as India's commodity derivatives market continues to deepen, with turnover in the commodity derivatives segment reaching ₹183.3 lakh crore in FY26, according to SEBI’s April 2026 report. The segment's growth was driven by a sharp increase in futures turnover, particularly bullion futures traded on MCX.
The new offering will enable eligible users to trade futures and options contracts across non-agricultural commodities, including precious metals such as gold and silver; base metals such as copper, zinc and aluminium; and energy commodities such as crude oil and natural gas, through the Lemonn platform.
Commodity markets provide exposure to a distinct set of economic drivers. Precious metals can be influenced by interest rates, currency movements and global risk sentiment, while industrial metals are closely linked to manufacturing and infrastructure demand. Energy commodities, meanwhile, can respond to changes in production, inventories, geopolitical developments and global demand.
For the non-agricultural commodities covered in the offering, MCX's commodity trading session runs from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM, extending to 11:55 PM during the applicable period. The extended session provides access to commodity markets during Indian evening hours, when global markets remain active.
“Commodities bring a different set of market drivers to derivatives trading, with prices influenced by factors including interest rates, currency movements, global demand and supply, and developments across energy and industrial markets. With this launch, we are expanding the range of exchange-traded derivatives available on Lemonn, while keeping product understanding and risk awareness central to the trading experience,” said Ashish Singhal, Co-founder, Lemonn.
The addition of commodities further broadens Lemonn's derivatives offering, bringing equity and commodity derivatives together on a single platform giving users access to multiple asset classes through one trading interface.
Lemonn plans to further expand its commodity derivatives offering over time, including into agricultural commodities and electricity contracts, subject to applicable regulatory and exchange requirements.
Commodity futures and options are leveraged products and involve significant risk. Users should understand the applicable contract specifications, margin requirements, expiry and settlement mechanisms, and associated risks before trading. Settlement and delivery provisions vary by contract and are governed by the relevant MCX specifications and exchange requirements.
