New Delhi, Aug 18: Maruti Suzuki India’s Fronx has crossed two lakh exports in less than 38 months, becoming the fastest SUV made in India to achieve the milestone and strengthening the company’s growing presence in international markets.

The Fronx began its export journey in June 2023 and reached its first one lakh overseas shipments in less than 25 months. It added the next one lakh exports in just about 13 months, reflecting growing demand for the SUV in global markets.

Produced at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, the Fronx is now shipped to nearly 90 countries, including Japan. Its performance has made it one of the key models driving the company’s overseas business.

Maruti Suzuki said the Fronx has been India’s leading exported passenger vehicle since FY2024-25. The company currently exports 17 models to nearly 120 countries and has retained its position as India’s top passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years.

The company’s export portfolio includes the Fronx, Jimny 5-Door, e Vitara, Dzire and Baleno, which were among its leading exported models in the first quarter of FY2026-27.

Maruti Suzuki accounted for more than 55 per cent of India’s passenger vehicle exports during the quarter, highlighting its significant contribution to the country’s automobile export sector.

The rapid growth in Fronx exports also reflects the increasing ability of Indian manufacturing facilities to serve international markets with products designed and produced in the country.

For India’s automobile industry, the milestone highlights the growing importance of exports as manufacturers expand beyond domestic demand and strengthen the country’s position as a global manufacturing base.

The Fronx’s performance could further encourage investment across the automotive supply chain, while supporting manufacturing activity, employment and India’s ambitions to become a larger player in the global automobile market.
