Celebrate Bakra Eid with a Rich & Flavorful Butter Chicken Feast

Bakra Eid is a time of togetherness, celebration, and flavourful meals shared with loved ones. Adding warmth to the festive table, this classic Butter Chicken recipe brings together smoky grilled chicken, a rich tomato-based curry, and the aromatic flavour of Hamdard Khaalis Butter Chicken Masala. Creamy, comforting, and packed with authentic flavours, this dish makes for the perfect festive main course to pair with naan, roti, or fragrant rice.

Butter chicken

Serves - 4

Ingredients

First Marination

  • Chicken leg boneless — ½ kg
  • Salt — to taste
  • Lemon — 1
  • Ginger paste — ½ tbsp
  • Garlic paste — ½ tbsp

Second Marination

  • Mustard oil — 4 tbsp
  • Kashmiri chilli powder — 1 tbsp
  • Thick yogurt — ½ cup
  • Lemon — 1
  • Salt — to taste
  • Ginger paste — ½ tbsp
  • Garlic paste — ½ tbsp
  • Fenugreek leaves powder — 1 tsp

For the Curry

  • Tomatoes — 500 g
  • Salt — 1 tsp
  • Hamdard Khaalis Butter Chicken Masala — 2 tsp
  • Garlic cloves — 5
  • Ginger — 1 small knob
  • Onion — 1
  • Green chillies — 2
  • Kashmiri chilli powder — ¾ tbsp
  • Butter — 2 tbsp
  • Cashew nuts — ½ cup
  • Water — 1 cup

For Finishing in the Pan

  • Butter — 2 tbsp
  • Chicken tikka — as prepared above
  • Green chilli, slit — 1
  • Ginger, chopped — 1 tsp
  • Hamdard Khaalis Butter Chicken Masala — ½ tsp
  • Salt — to taste
  • Sugar — a large pinch
  • Kasoori methi powder — ½ tsp
  • Sugar — 2 tsp
  • Cream — 2 tbsp
  • Curry — as prepared above

Method

Marinate the chicken with the first marinade and set it aside for 20 minutes. To prepare the second marinade, first add mustard oil to a bowl and mix in the chilli powder. This helps the chilli release its maximum colour. Then add the remaining ingredients. Drain all the water from the chicken and add it to the second marinade.

Cook the chicken in a pan with grill marks over high heat. Alternatively, cook it in a preheated oven at 200°C for 15 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked.

For the curry, mix all the ingredients together and cook until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy. Blend the mixture into a smooth puree and strain it through a sieve.

Now, heat a pan and add butter. Add chopped ginger, slit green chillies, and the sauce. Add the chicken tikka along with Hamdard Khaalis Butter Chicken Masala. Add a splash of water, then pour in the curry. Season with salt, sugar, and kasoori methi, and cook until the curry reaches a coating consistency. Remove from the heat and add cream. Stir well and serve hot.
